A selection of A. densiflora. Similar in size and look to "Ian Bush". Early bloomer, January and February, in the valley. Popular, easy to grow Manzanita. Slightly larger that "Sentinel". Profuse flowers in late winter. Can take some additional water. Can be pruned to a small tree.

Arctostaphylos sp Common Name: Dr. Hurd Manzanita
Family: Ericaceae
Type: Shrub, 10'h x 8'w
Flowers: January to February
Flower Color: White
Large manzanita. Evergreen. Light green foliage. Can take some garden irrigation. Very attractive red bark - prune lower branches to desired height and shape. Can grow very tall - 15 ft but slow growing in our garden - 6' after 8 years with no supplemental water. Appears to be very adaptable and easy to grow. Can take part sun inland but seems to do well in full sun with no additional water. Hybrid in cultivation since the 1980s.
